Reading Prompt Recs: Books That Are Under 150 pages

|

Happy Tuesday, bookish friends! Today, we’re diving back into prompt recommendations for the 2024 Booknerd Backlist Reading Challenge and today’s prompt is: quick reads! I’m sharing 10 books under 150 pages that you can probably read in a day (and a few that are slightly over 150). These will work perfect for the BINGO prompt: read a book that’s under 200 pages!

Books under 150 pages you can read quickly

I’m not much of a novella fan (they’re just over too quickly, what can I say๐Ÿฅต๐Ÿ˜˜) But I’ve already read (and loved!) the two Melissa Foster novellas on this list – who can say no to the Whiskeys and the Bradens?! The rest are still on my TBR and, yes, they’re mostly romance. #sorrynotsorry

THE MAKING OF A MATCHMAKER by Tess Thompson
BINTI by Nnedi Okorafor
THE MISTLETOE BET by Maren Moore
THE GOVERNESS AFFAIR by Courtney Milan
BEWITCHED BY BAILEY by Jennifer Bishop
IN FOR A PENNY by Melissa Foster
STRAIGHT UP SINGLE DAD by Jennifer Rivers
THE EXCEPTION TO THE RULE by Christina Lauren
DARING HER LOVE by Melissa Foster
BITTER SWEET LOVE by Jennifer L. Armentrout

And a few books that are just over 150 pages

Because our 2024 reading challenge prompt is for a book under 200 pages, I’m adding a few more novellas here that are between 150-200 pages. I’ve read FIERCE (and even got a chance to chat with Indie author Cris Hanson about her book!) and ICE PLANET BARBARIANS. The rest of these gorgeous goodies are still on my TBR pile.

ARTIFICIAL CONDITION by Martha Wells
MACARON MURDER by Harper Lin
FIERCE by Cris Hanson
ELVES, EVERGREENS, AND EVIDENCE by Tonya Kappes
ELEVATION by Stephen King
ICE PLANET BARBARIANS by Ruby Dixon

** Note: Due to formatting of the paperback special edition, ICE PLANET BARBARIANS is over 300 pages if you choose to buy that format. The Kindle edition is 188 pages.

And a few final thoughts …

Even though I’m not much of a novella person (and usually don’t read books that are under 150 pages) but sometimes you need a little bit more of a series you’ve been loving. Or a spin-off for a character who didn’t get to shine in the first book.

I hope these novellas will help you choose a book to fit the 2024 Booknerd Backlist Reading Challenge prompt: read a book under 200 pages!

And if you’re here from Top Ten Tuesday (hosted by the lovely Jana of That Artsy Reader Girl), let me know your favorite novella in the comments.

Happy reading, xo!

  7. It is nice to have a list of quick reads. I am a fan of Christina Lauren and will add her book to my list.

By the way, I have read Elevation and it was a great book.
