I really enjoyed Georgie and Vektal’s book (the first IPB). Liz and Raahosh took a bit more warming up to. He kidnaps her right away in the beginning, forcing her to get the khui (the symbiote that keeps them alive) … and holes her away in his private cave.

Talk about a teensy bit caveman.

The sexual tension between the two of them gets really hot. Alien romances are not my usual jam but two stubborn characters always keeps me entertained. I like that Liz wasn’t a weak, whiney human. She used to hunt with her dad so she can actually hold her own when it comes to the ice planet. But she’s very vocal about the lack of choice for her. And I get it. I’d be pissed too if I was kidnapped by aliens, dropped on an ice planet, and then told you need a worm to survive. Yuck! Then throw in a broody alien who insists you’re his mate? Talk about a lot to digest.

But, once they finally stop being so stubborn, it’s so beautiful! I really do love Raahosh and Liz together. I will admit I’m a bit turned off to the tribe, itself … how they go about things just doesn’t sit right with me.

Ice Planet Barbarians #3

This is the first 5-star I’ve given to the IPB series so far and that’s because Kira and Aehako are my favorite! Kira (Sad Eyes) just makes my heart break because she can’t have children (but wants them, I think) and feels alone and useless on this ice planet. And then you have Aehako, who acts like a big flirty child half the time. He spends so much of his time just trying to make Kira happy and I think it’s the most romantic thing I’ve read so far.

Most of BARBARIAN LOVER centers around Kira being worried because she’s heard the Little Green Men have come back and are looking for their “cargo” (her and the other girls). So she’s trying to get back to the Elder’s Cave (the old ship that brought the blue aliens to Not-Hoth) to see if she can remove the translator attached to her ear. The other part of it is her intense attraction to Aehako but knowing that she can’t have kids, she doesn’t want to hold him back. How heartbreaking!

This book seriously broke my heart into tiny little pieces. I’ve seen spoilery reviews that didn’t like how Ruby Dixon handled this issue in the end … I, personally, loved it. To each her own. I loved every little bit of Kira and Aehako’s story!

Ice Planet holiday

ICE PLANET HOLIDAY is a mix of Georgie’s POV through the end of her pregnancy and Claire kicking douchebag Bek to the curb. The entire tribe congregates in the main cave to celebrate a Thanksgiving-Christmas-Hanukkah-Valentine’s Day type of holiday and we even get a couple of babies born in this one!! #IHaveBabyFever

I still love Georgie and Vektal’s relationship but Claire and Ereven are so cute! Not to mention this book has the addition of a totally botched game of soccer. It gives the aliens a chance to go all barbarian and beat the crud out of each other!

I am a sucker for so many things in this book – holidays, babies, new love, and scenes like the soccer game that I really feel should be on TV. While I DNF’d book 4 in this series – I just was not feeling the serious caveman vibe from Harlow and her … well, caveman – I really enjoyed this little novella and it’s re-sparked my desire to continue the series. I may, at some point, go back and read Harlow’s story … I also may not.
